Your Primary Responsibilities Include:

The Senior Fraud Investigator supports all aspects of the Bank's Fraud Compliance Program, monitoring activities to prevent, identify, and resolve fraud. They advise on compliance issues, guide control establishment, and contribute to preventing fraud losses and protecting the bank's reputation.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor transactional and non-transactional activity flowing through the Bank to prevent, identify and resolve fraud activity, including helping to prevent fraud losses and protect the Bank’s reputational risk.

  • Apply expanded knowledge base of fraud schemes to assist in the handling of specialized fraud functions such as identity theft and cross-channel fraud.

  • Research and analyze high-risk transactions across all payment channels with a sense of urgency.

  • Review account exceptions to identify potentially fraudulent activity.

  • Identify control issues/policy violations and propose actions to mitigate reoccurrence.

  • Maintain and update case management system for tracking of fraud cases and relevant information.

  • Determine the best course of action to minimize fraud losses based on research results.

  • Provide exceptional service to internal and external customers, including supporting all interdepartmental stakeholders.

  • Responsible for SAR filings.

  • Perform special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in finance, or similar; OR associate degree and two (2) years of experience in functional area; OR high school diploma (or equivalent) plus four (4) years of experience in functional area.

  • Additional three (3) years+ of progressive experience in functional area.


Additional Job Requirements:

  • Proven skills and experience with bank fraud, financial crimes, and compliance functions.

  • A minimum of 2 years Mortgage Fraud Experience, including SAR filing experience.

  • Experience in BSA/AML investigations preferred.

  • Proven experience with Microsoft Office 365 and the following technology: fraud detection software, mobile banking platforms (GLIA), P2P, external transfers, automated account opening systems, and mobile deposits.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of applicable bank laws and regulations and application of bank policies and procedures.

  • Willingness to pursue continuing education, certifications, etc. as applicable to advancing in the organization.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to speak confidently.

  • An ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities change daily, and where employees wear many hats.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to think "outside the box" and prioritize tasks and decisions in a timely manner.
