Within the ES&F sub-division, the ES&F Strategic Services (ESS) team creates value by driving the strategic and enablement agenda for the business of ES&F, ensuring better horizontal alignment, consistency, and collaboration within the six departments of ES&F globally and furthering ES&F’s timely vertical integration with the GR&S division and our Information Technology (IT) partners.

The Strategic Operations & Enablement lead will report to the ES&F Strategic Services Department Head and be responsible for driving the following capabilities:



  • Understanding the organization’s multi-year strategic, operational and functional needs and incubating capabilities and processes to meet those needs

  • Annual / multi-year strategic planning including special analyses and memos (as needed)

  • Reporting / dashboard rationalization, consolidation and automation

  • Strategic and operational workforce planning inclusive of location strategy, learning & development, and crew onboarding, engagement and retention

  • Driving new ways of working, transformation and maturity of work practices: agile transformation, lean portfolio management, product management, value stream mapping and client experience (CX)

  • Fiscal stewardship of the BAU and investment budgets; understanding and ensuring collaboration across the portfolio of work co-driven with our IT partners


In this role, you will:



  • Partner with the Chief Information Security Officer’s (CISO) Chief of Staff (CoS) and ES&F Global Department Heads and their teams to enable them to deliver on their strategy and outcomes.

  • Oversee the day-to-day management and operations of the ES&F Operations team including making the processes, functions and team more efficient.

  • Plan, create and coordinate high impact agenda and content for key meetings and proposals to the ES&F senior leadership team (SLT) and other senior stakeholder audiences.

  • Provide strategic and operational support to the ES&F departments on a range of projects and initiatives, as well as serve as proxy for the Head of ESS to ensure proper execution.

  • Effectively and independently collaborate within and across the sub-division, and organizational lines at all levels to influence, persuade and negotiate on behalf of ES&F.

  • Partner closely with the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and IT Divisional Strategic Services (ITSS) and GR&S Divisional Strategic Services (DSS) teams to drive execution of business planning activities such as organization goals / OKRs, budgets, work portfolio identification and prioritization, scorecards etc.

  • Promote and enhance the workforce planning function for the organization by maturing the crew onboarding, attraction, engagement and retention strategies and partnering with the Human Resource / Talent (HR) and Global Talent Acquisition (GTA) organizations.

  • Serve as a change agent and catalyst by driving new ways of working, transformation and maturity of work practices across ES&F through the adoption of Agile, lean portfolio management, product management, value stream mapping and client experience (CX) practices


What it takes:



  • Understanding of cyber security and technical concepts including cloud literacy

  • Ability to think strategically and creatively while pushing a variety of projects through to completion. Ability to connect the dots and define the big picture outcomes, while identifying tangible ways to steer teams/leaders towards execution of the outcomes.

  • Executive presence and ability to build lasting relationships and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Ability to craft executive ready materials and tell a compelling story to influence and persuade stakeholders – specifically Advanced PowerPoint skills, and the ability to develop/structure presentations with compelling narratives, graphics and visual design in support of executive presentations.

  • Learning dexterity to rapidly build acumen and tackle ambiguous problems with limited information and data.

  • Resourcefulness to do more with less and leverage the power of Vanguard for the benefit of ES&F.

  • Role model behaviors that attract top talent to the team and raise the bar on performance.

  • Ability to make decisions quickly and effectively, balancing efficiency and risks.
